Our
Mission Our main focus is to help each of our student members perfect their professional and personal networking skills through company information sessions, workshops, finance competitions, and sporting events. By building corporate partnerships within the Houston business community, our members have access to the knowledge, insight, and network they need to achieve personal and professional success. Why Us? The University of Houston Finance Association is dedicated to both our members and the community we reside in. Our goal is to develop meaningful, long-term relationships with both large and small business entities. Existing partnerships with companies such as JPMorgan Chase, Shell, Edward Jones, ChevronTexaco, Prudential, Merrill Lynch, Enterprise, Comerica and Foley's will give our members the ultimate advantage during their interview and job search process. We also believe in helping others, as well as ourselves. This semester we will carry on the Finance Association tradition of taking part in meaningful community service, providing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to less fortunate families, and raising funds to donate to charitable organizations. Activities The Finance Association offers its members a wide variety of activities to participate in throughout the semester. Every semester we have approximately five general meetings in order to give our members a chance to network with other fellow students as well as corporate contacts. At each of our meetings we invite members of the financial community to come out and give a presentation on their specific field of expertise. In addition to our meetings we require our members to participate in at least one community service project during the course of the semester. We also hold various competitive events such as our commodities trading competition. At the end of the year all of our members are invited to join us at the end of the year banquet where we give out awards to outstanding leaders within our organization and have a great time! |
